Even though I heard the words like Free software/Linux at the end of 1990′s. I never used a GNU/Linux based system until 2008.
In 1998 I got couple of free CDs along with a computer magazine. Out of which, one was Redhat version of GNU/Linux. I tried my best to install it on my Pentium II PC and it was not a success. I do not have an Internet connection at that time.
Years passed, due to work pressure and other job related matters I am not in a position to think about area of Free software, and other reason I believe in this part of the world (UAE) very less people are aware about another OS available for their systems. Everybody whether it is in office or home is using Micro$oft only. Even though many aware that it is illeagal to use pirated copies of MS Windows, there is no alternative available them to use.
Two years back I got a chance to attend a class about Free software conducted by Friends of KSSP, the class was handled by Mr.Dileep of Network Gulf International. This really help me a lot to re enter to the world of GNU/Linux.
